About

How long does it take to get setup with InstiCollect?

Signing up for InstiCollect takes 5-10 Minutes. Once set up, you can start submitting debts immediately.

TIP: Make sure you have your banking information with you when you sign up. When we collect on your behalf, we will pay you via ACH. You’ll need to have that information ready in order to purchase InstiCollect.

Do actual people make telephone calls to my consumer(s) or is this just a digital voicemail service?

IC System uses USA-based representatives to make collection calls. These calls are NOT computerized voicemails from machines; they are real people who know how to negotiate payments on your past-due accounts successfully. InstiCollect also utilizes texts, emails, and hard-copy letters when called for in a given collections situation.

Why do I have to provide my ACH information?

IC System uses ACH to get you paid. Upon collecting on your behalf, IC System will transfer your percentage of funds through an electronic ACH transfer on a monthly basis. You can monitor your statements and track collection progress securely through our Client Portal.

I only have a few debts. Is InstiCollect right for me?

Even if you only submit one or two accounts, InstiCollect is perfect for you. Our service gives you peace of mind, knowing you are taking responsible, legal, and ethical steps to acquire the funds you are owed. Whether you submit one account or 100, you’ll benefit from our 85+ years of collections expertise.

Is IC System a legitimate company? I’m uneasy about entering my banking information online.

IC System has been collecting debt for American businesses since 1938. We are based in Minnesota and have earned the trust of thousands of new businesses each year as one of the premiere debt collection agencies in the country. We are accredited by the BBB and have an A rating. Learn more about Our Impact.

Do your representatives harass consumers or patients at part of the collections calls?

We do NOT harass consumers; we work with them amicably to find mutually beneficial outcomes, such as setting up payment plans or other methods of helping consumers get current with their payments on past-due accounts. InstiCollect utilizes our decades of debt collection experience to apply the right approach at the right stage of the collection process.

I want an agency that only charges when they collect my money. Why should I pay a $75 setup fee?

The setup fee covers the cost of entering your company into our system for ongoing debt submittals. Once you are set up in our system, you can submit as many debts as you need for years of efficient and effective collections.

Debts submitted for InstiCollect will receive a clearly outlined set of collection efforts. Beware of some collection agencies that offer “you only get paid if we do” pricing models. Make sure to ask what collection activities are guaranteed on each debt you submit. With InstiCollect, you can feel confident that you are proactively applying the right collection activities on each account.

What is your collection success rate?

Any collection agency that promises a certain collections success rate or liquidity rate is not to be trusted.

Multiple factors contribute to the likelihood of successful collections, such as the age of the debt, the amount of accurate information about the consumer, whether or not credit reporting can be applied, and a variety of other important data points. Without knowing these factors, predicting liquidity is little more than a guess. There are simply no guarantees.

However, one major benefit of InstiCollect is that you will see a guaranteed level of collection activities undertaken on your behalf, ensuring IC System is doing all it can to secure payment on your past-due accounts.

Why does the contingency fee go up after 6 Months?

After the first 180 days of collection activities, InstiCollect transitions into a more assertive set of techniques that are more costly for IC System. As a result, they come with a slightly increased contingency rate. A full listing of these services is on the InstiCollect homepage.

What kind of client service can I expect from IC System when using InstiCollect?

You get the best of both worlds with InstiCollect. We arm you with all you need to manage your accounts within our IC System Client Portal. There, you can pull progress reports, search for individual debts, and even look up collection notes to find out what your consumers stated on calls as reasons for non-payment or next steps.

The Client Portal gives you all you need to manage your company’s debt portfolio effectively with the click of a mouse. Should you need additional help, our experienced and helpful Client Service team will answer your questions and ensure you are set up for success with InstiCollect.

How will I know if you have contacted my consumer/customer yet or not?

IC System’s Client Portal provides minute-by-minute updates on the status of all consumer accounts placed with IC System for collection.

Why do you need so much information on the consumer? It looks like submitting debts takes is going to take me a lot of time.

Yes, submitting someone to collections is not an instantaneous process. It is a serious matter. Some intensive collection techniques will be applied. In order to deliver maximum results, we will need a lot of details about the consumer, such as last known address, email, cell phone number, and some basic information about the nature of the unpaid debt. These steps are all in place to ensure that IC System can safely and legally go about the debt collection process. The more information you provide, the more effective we can be on your behalf.

What is the smallest dollar amount I can submit to collections? Can I submit debts under $50?

IC System accepts any debt balance size of $50 and above. If you have a large volume of balances under $50, please contact us about specific debt collection programs that might make an exception to the $50 minimum balance amount.

How many debts can I submit? Is there a fee for each debt I submit for collections?

If you anticipate submitting more than 50 debts per month, you may want to consider some of our other collections programs, which have alternative debt submittal options.

However, once your company is set up with an InstiCollect account, you will never pay a per-debt or account fee. Simply log in to your InstiCollect Client Portal account and submit as many debts as you desire.

Once I submit a debt, how long until collection efforts will begin?

Once your debts are successfully submitted through your Client Portal login, debt collection efforts will commence within 1 business day.

What is the difference between Credit Reporting and Credit Monitoring?

When allowed by law, Credit Reporting is applied in the first 180 days in collections with InstiCollect. It creates a credit profile for the consumer from the national credit bureaus and provides a crucial motivation to become current on impacted accounts.

Credit Monitoring comes into play after 181 Days within the InstiCollect program. This service monitors a variety of credit triggers on a consumer’s profile, searching for signals that a consumer’s credit situation has materially changed in a way that might indicate an increased propensity to pay. These might include a new job, car loan, or other notable credit event. This event alerts IC System. and we respond with a renewed set of outreach options that may result in payment. These credit triggers incur a cost to IC System, which, in part, accounts for the increased contingency percentage due to the IC System after the 181 Day point in the InstiCollect program.

What is non-litigation attorney referral?

If, after an initial collection period (usually about 180 days), we have not secured payment, IC System will refer eligible accounts to attorneys. We provide referrals to our nationwide network of attorney partners, who assist in the collection process. Services may vary depending on the state in which the consumer resides, the type of account, and the amount owed.

What does it mean to grant IC System Settlement Authority?

IC System collection efforts always begin with a request for full payment of an account. Settlement authority can be useful if initial attempts to collect are unsuccessful. It means accepting less than the balance in full to resolve the past-due account. Most commonly, our clients allow around 70% of the balance to resolve the account.

Settlement Authority gives IC System collectors an effective tool to motivate a consumer to resolve an account while recovering a majority of the original balance. In our experience, having Settlement Authority will result in a greater number of payments and resolved accounts.

Do you collect on individual consumers or businesses?

When you submit a debt to IC System through your InstiCollect Client Portal, you can identify the debt as either Commercial or Consumer.

Commercial refers to a debt owed by a business. Consumer means that IC System will be collecting from a consumer.

With InstiCollect, you can submit both Consumer and Commercial accounts with the same agreement.

Do you do anything but mail letters on my behalf?

InstiCollect utilizes decades of debt collection experience to apply the right inputs at the right stage of the collection process. Letters, while sometimes a valuable collection tactic, are only one of many tools used during the InstiCollect process. Account engagement tactics include inbound and outbound telephone communications, texts, emails, and letters.

What is CSAT and why is it important to maintaining ethical debt collections?

CSAT is IC System’s proprietary process of ensuring consumer satisfaction on each and every phone interaction with consumers.

At the close of a collection call, an IC System representative will offer the consumer the opportunity to complete a survey and provide feedback on their experience. The survey results allow IC System to track call quality and performance based on an external measurement. Out CSAT scores leave no doubt that IC System representatives treat consumers with dignity and respect on every call. This type of survey ensures your business reputation is safe in the hands of IC System.

I’m nervous about Credit Reporting. I am worried it will cause me to lose my valuable client relationships. Is Credit Reporting my customers really a good idea?

Credit Reporting is a proven process for maintaining accountability and incentivizes consumers to resolve their past-due accounts.

When allowed by law, Credit Reporting is applied in the first 180 days in collections with InstiCollect. It logs the consumer’s debt with the national credit bureaus and provides a crucial motivation to become current on impacted accounts. When the consumer resolves their account, IC System will remove the negative mark from their credit report.
